About Your Ergonomics Assessment

The purpose of the HCA Corporate Ergonomic Assessment Program is to provide a thorough assessment of an employee at their workstation to ensure optimal working postures and ergonomic work practices, as well as correct workstation set-up. This assessment can be carried out either in the employee’s home (via telehealth) or in their workplace by a trained ergonomic Physiotherapist or Occupational therapist.

Your appointment will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

Benefits of conducting an ergonomic assessment include –

Workplace safety culture – your human capital investment in ergonomics proves that your company is committed to employee health and safety. Employees are a company’s most valuable asset. Placing their health and safety at the forefront creates a stronger workplace safety culture.

Reduced compensation costs – one-third of compensation is paid out to cases of musculoskeletal conditions caused by poor ergonomics.

Employee engagement – providing your employees with ergonomic options demonstrates a genuine care factor. Furthermore, it has been shown to lessen absenteeism, reduce staff turnover, increase employee engagement and boost overall morale.

Productivity growth – office ergonomics equals more efficiency due to less exertion and pain minimisation. The gained efficiency means more productivity from your employees. Increased productivity is a measure of greater economic performance and economic growth.

Quality of work – poor ergonomics can cause employee irritability which makes it easy to forget important work details.

At the conclusion of the program, your employer will receive a personalised recommendation report of any changes required to your work station set-up. Personal information and medical information are confidential and will not be shared with your employer.

This program incorporates an assessment and subsequent evaluation of an employee’s workstation and ergonomic set up. The HCA practitioner will make recommendations based on the most up to date and best practice principles. These recommendations will advise of any findings and changes recommended to improve the workstation set up either in their home or office.

A workstation assessment is suitable for workers experiencing pain or discomfort, whilst working at their computer workstation, but who remain at work. It is a more comprehensive assessment than a preventative workstation audit and involves observation, education, recommendations, personalised adaptions, work habits, equipment recommendations and postural advice. It is aimed at preventing, reducing and managing symptoms.

The responsibility for follow-up of all recommendations made by HCA falls on the employee/client and their employer. HCA is not responsible for implementing any changes or recommendations made.
